Korthalsia

27 species. These striking, spiny palms are found in the wet, lowland tropical forests of southeast Asia. Their stems branch and climb to the top of tall forest canopies. The leaflets are diamond or wedge-shaped and covered with white wax on the underside. Korthalsia is rarely grown as an ornamental and has not been thoroughly evaluated in South Florida's growing conditions.
