Euterpe

8 species. Euterpe palms are native to South America, Central America, and the Caribbean. They are elegant palms with slender stems and leaves with drooping leaflets. Some species are solitary, while others form large dense clusters of stems. Euterpe is a good choice for many gardens in the warm and humid tropics, but it grows poorly in South Florida's alkaline soil.

Acai palm (=E. oleracea); Assai palm (=E. oleracea); Palmicho (=E. purpurea)
